Polly Zerfoss-Hornig

Polly Zerfoss-Hornig, 53, of 196 Shelly Lane, Mifflinburg, passed away Monday, March 1, 2021, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg. Polly was a native of Somerset, PA, and resided in Mifflinburg for the last 17 years.

She was born October 20, 1967, in Somerset, a daughter of the late Donald and Martha (Saler) Zerfoss. On November 24, 1990, she married Rick Hornig, who survives.

Polly was a 1986 graduate of Somerset Area School District where she served as the high school’s mascot. She was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in social work. She spent 2 summers studying abroad in Ecuador.

Polly recently retired from working at Danville State Hospital and was previously employed at numerous nursing homes as a social worker in Somerset County and Union County.

Polly’s favorite word was “fabulous” and used it frequently to describe foods, tv shows, and her children. She loved her family above all else and committed her life to being the best wife, mother, sibling, and aunt that she could be.

Surviving in addition to her husband of 30 years, are four sons, Zachary, Joshua, Nicholas, and Benjamin Hornig; one sister and brother-in-law, Colleen and Dan Miller of Amherst Virginia; and one brother and sister-in-law, Todd and Kelly Zerfoss of Rockingham Court, Virginia; 6 nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are welcome for a walk-through visitation from 5-6 p.m., Thursday, March 4, at Roupp Funeral Home Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg. Masks and social distancing will be required. A memorial service will be conducted privately, with Rev. John Yost, officiating.  Livestreaming of the service will be available on the Roupp Funeral Home Facebook page, www.facebook.com/rouppfuneralhome, at 6 p.m.
