Gerald "Jerry" Breon

Gerald R. “Jerry” Breon, 82, of 305 Cherry St., Lewisburg, entered into rest at 1:05 PM, Wednesday, November 11, 2020, at his home.

He was born February 27, 1938, in Penns Creek, a son of the late Ray E. Breon and Helen M. (Dean) Mitchell.  On June 9, 1956, at the Lincoln Chapel United Methodist Church, Laurelton, he married the former Joanne “Jo” Wagner, who preceded him in death November 19, 2009, breaking a 53 year marital union.

Jerry was a 1955 graduate of Middleburg high school.

In June of 1955 at the age of 17, Jerry enlisted in the Air Force. He completed basic training at Sampson Air Force Base, New York. He went to Amarillo Air Force Base, Texas, for jet aircraft and engine mechanic school. After graduation, he was stationed at Dobbins Air Force Base, Marietta, Georgia, where he became a crew chief on an F-84 jet fighter. Jerry served one year at Keflavic Air Force Base, Iceland, and later was stationed at Otis Air Force Base, Massachusetts. He received an honorable discharge in 1964 after proudly serving his country for nine years.

He was employed as a correctional officer at the Federal Penitentiary, Lewisburg, for seven years. In 1974, Jerry became an owner/operator of a “big rig”. He and his wife were a team hauling heavy equipment, jet engines, and explosives into 48 states and parts of Canada. They both received a safe driving award for each logging over 1.5 million accident free miles.

Jerry was a member of the local 707 Teamsters, Brooklyn, New York.

After their retirement, he and his wife spent the winters in Bradenton, Florida.

Jerry enjoyed fishing, playing pinocle, and reading detective and mystery books.

Surviving are two grandchildren, Malinda and her husband Josh Ruch of Milton, and Benjamin and his wife Lindsey West of Muncy; four great grandchildren, Lukas, Alexis, Trinity, and Melanie; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Janet Troutman of Shamokin Dam, and Linda and Edwin Fisher of Lewisburg; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by four children, Cathy West, Michael Scott Breon, Vickie Jo Breon, and Jeffrey Shawn Breon; and two brothers, William and Larry Breon.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Friday, November 20, 2020, at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg, with Pastor Steve Porschet, officiating.

Interment will be in the Penns Creek Union Cemetery with military honors accorded by the American Legion Post 410 and VFW Post 1964, both of Mifflinburg.
