David Walter, Sr.

David “Pop” Eugene Walter, Sr., 69, of Millmont, entered into rest Thursday evening, February 20, 2020, at home surrounded by his family.

He was born November 9, 1950, in Lewisburg, a son of Helen R. (Mull) Walter of Mifflinburg and the late Homer J. Walter.  On January 24, 1970, in Montgomery, he married the former Shonny Lynn Shnyder, who survives.

David was a 1968 graduate of Mifflinburg High School.

He was employed at Teichman and Schnure Construction, Mifflinburg, C.A. Shipton Builders, Mifflinburg, Walter Brothers Construction, Millmont, Agway, Winfield, and at Mid State Mechanical, Mifflinburg, from where he retired in 2012.

David enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, playing cornhole, spending time with his family, traveling, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, playing cards, agitating his kids, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and watching Penn State football and wrestling.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 50 years, are one son, David E. Walter, Jr.; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Stacy R. and Pete Crabb, Kimberly A. and Chad R. Fisher, and Lindsay A. Zevan; one brother, Ricky L. Walter; three sisters, Linda Wehr, Dorry Heiges, and Julie Whalen; 8 grandchildren, Tiana and Andy Fisher, Kelcie Crabb, Owen and Kaitlyn Walter, Ethan Zevan, Olivia Walter, Grady Fisher, Kale Folk, and Rhylan Fisher; and two great grandchildren, Nolan and Noah Fisher.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Kathy Bennett.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Union County Sportsmen’s Club, 50 Sportsmens Club Ln., Fishing Derby and Trout Stocking, Weikert, PA 17885.

Family and friends are welcome from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, and 10 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11, with Pastor Richard DeVett, officiating.

Please dress casually in jeans, camo, and flannel.

Burial will be in the Hartleton Cemetery.
