Chia-Ching Chang

Chia-Ching Chang, beloved father, 92, of Lewisburg, entered into rest at 9:40 p.m., Thursday, March 3, 2022, at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, Lewisburg, with his family by his side.

He was born June 19, 1929, in Jiangsu Province, China, son of the late Chih-Ching and Hsiu-Chen Chang. On August 23, 1964, he married Janet Chia-Shiang Chang, who preceded him in death September 30, 2008.

Chia-Ching obtained a bachelor’s degree in Taiwan and a master’s degree in Library Science from George Peabody College, Tennessee.

He was employed at Bucknell University in the Ellen Clarke Bertrand Library for 30 years until retirement. He was active in Chinese cultural activities.

Chia-Ching enjoyed exercising, drawing, stamp collecting, and playing the Erhu (Chinese violin). He wanted to share his culture with the community and held a presentation at the local library. Chia-Ching was a member of the Kelly Township Planning Commission.

He was a good role model to his children, and taught them the importance of a good work ethic and to be respectful to all.

Surviving is one son, Anthony Chang of Virginia; two daughters and sons-in-law, Grace and Victor Fuoti of New Jersey, and Lilian and John DeWald of Lewisburg; and three grandchildren, Matthew and Natalie DeWald, and Olivia Fuoti.

He was preceded in death by 9 brothers and sisters.

Family and friends are welcome from 1:30 to 2 p.m., Saturday, March 19, at Christ Wesleyan Church, 363 Stamm Road, Milton, where the funeral will be conducted at 2, with Pastor Caleb Swartz, officiating.

Burial will be in Montandon Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Diakon Senior Living Services (Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village) Benevolent Care Fund, at diakon.org/giving.
