Bessie Grove

Bessie J. Grove, 95, formerly of 2509 Hoffa Mill Rd., Lewisburg since 1945, entered into rest at 5:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 18, 2020, at Milton Nursing and Rehab.

She was born May 18, 1925 in Mifflinburg, a daughter of the late William and Mary (Homan) Page. On January 1, 1944, she married Charles R. Grove at the United Church of Christ parsonage, West Milton, by the Rev. Dr. Thomas B. Musser. Charles preceded her in death on January 11, 2000.

Bessie was a 1941 graduate of Mifflinburg High School.

She was a member of Mazeppa Union Church.

Bessie was a school bus driver for Lewisburg School District for over 20 years. She also assisted her husband with operating the family mill.

She enjoyed hunting and fishing with her husband and spending their weekends at the cabin in McKean County, and teaching her grandchildren how to fish. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Surviving are two daughters, Donna G. Joy and Cathy E. Falck, both of Lewisburg; four grandsons and their spouses, Christopher C. and Leilani Falck, Curtiss B. Falck, and Thomas E. Joy III and Teresa Joy, and Travis C. Joy; great-granddaughter and spouse Cassondra L. and Tyler Snook; three great-great-grandchildren, Caydence, Rayen, and Emmett Snook; and one brother, Robert Page.

She was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Thomas E. Joy Jr.; one sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and John Wilbert; and one sister-in-law, Lois Page.

A public graveside service will be held Monday, August 24 at 1:00 p.m., at the Mazeppa Union Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Ricky Phillips.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Pennsylvania, 2595 Interstate Dr., Ste 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110, in memory of Charles and Bessie Grove.
