Winifred V. Smith

Winifred “Winnie” Smith, 77, of 4648 Stein Lane, Winfield, entered into rest at 2:45 p.m., Sunday, July 5, 2026, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

She was born November 5, 1948 in Danville, a daughter of the late Carl and Jean (Black) Showers. On November 25, 1971, she married Eugene “Gene” Smith, who survives.

Winnie was a graduate of Blue Mountain Academy, Hamburg, and obtained her associate degree from Williamsport Area Community College.

She was employed as a cook at Buffalo Valley Elementary School for 19 years.

Winnie enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, traveling, reading, and was a foster parent for 10 years.

Surviving in addition to her husband of 54 years, are one son, Shawn Smith of Port Ann; one daughter, Caitlyn Smith of Winfield; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Carl and Linda Showers and Fred Showers; four grandchildren, Jonathan Peters, William and Skylar Smith, and Braeya Leigh.

Family and friends are welcome from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Road, Mifflinburg, where the funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 9th, with Allen Smith, officiating.

Burial will be in Mifflinburg Cemetery.
