William Styers

June 14, 1924 — May 23, 2016

MIFFLINBURG — William Calvin Styers, 91, of 248 Walnut St., since 1955, went home to be with his Lord and Savior at 10:10 a.m. Monday, May 23, 2016, his home.

He was born June 14, 1924, in Millmont, a son of the late William and Catherine (Trutt) Styers. On June 27, 1947, in the Buffalo Valley Church of the Brethren, Mifflinburg, with the Rev. Mervin Mensch performing the ceremony, he married the former Charlotte Reamer, who preceded him in death June 4, 2009.

Calvin was valedictorian of the class of 1942 of Laurelton High School.

He was an active member of the Buffalo Valley Church of the Brethren, Mifflinburg, where he served as lifetime deacon and a member of the Golden Oldies.

Calvin was employed at PHILCO Ford, Watsontown, Young Door, Williamsport, Marlin Industries, New Berlin, and Big Wrangler Restaurants.

He enjoyed traveling with his wife, with whom he shared nearly 62 years of marriage. Together they successfully traveled to 48 states and throughout Europe. He enjoyed playing Pinochle and Dominoes.

Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Thomas E. and Roxanne M. Styers, of Mifflinburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Wendy L. and Don Lee King, of Federal Way, Washington; six grandchildren and their spouses, Tracy S. and Corey Solomon, Heather R. Reid, and Kristy M. and Eric Heintzelman, all of Mifflinburg, Wade T. and Kristina Styers of Bridgeport, Jeff L. and Meka Christian, of Peachtree Corners, Georgia, and Deborah and Richard Knieriem of Washington; and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Warren Styers; and one sister, Ruth Styers.

Family and friends are welcome from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Road, Mifflinburg, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the Buffalo Valley Church of the Brethren, 46 Brethren Church Road., Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m., with Pastor Eric Reamer, officiating.

Burial will be in the Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
