Verna Eisenhuth

December 9, 1934 — January 17, 2016

MIFFLINBURG – Verna Mae (Roat) Eisenhuth, 81, of 233 Green St., for the past 52 years, peacefully slipped away at 11:45 a.m., Sunday, January 17, 2016, at Williamsport Regional Medical Center.

She was born December 9, 1934, in Lewisburg, a daughter of the late LeRoy S. and Edna Mae (Rearick) Roat.  In July of 1951, she married Ralph E. “Earl” Dodge, who preceded her in death in January 1952.  On February 3, 1955, she married the love of her life, Guy F. Eisenhuth, who preceded her in death on March 10, 2011.

Vera attended Lewisburg Area High School with the class of 1952.

She was a faithful member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Mifflinburg, for over 50 years.

Verna was a wife, mom, and homemaker all of her adult life.  She was a kind and gentle soul who will be missed by all who knew her.

She enjoyed doing word search books, watching tv, reading, and spending time with her family.

Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Steven E. and Kay Dodge of Mifflinburg; one daughter, Joan M. Fox of Mifflinburg; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Margaret M. Kline of Lewisburg, and Jean A. and Walt Katherman of Mifflinburg; a special niece and her husband, Linda and Larry Keefer of New Columbia; her faithful companion, grand dog, Lucy; and a large extended family who humorously referred to her as the matriarch of the family.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert L. Roat, and Richard D. Roat; and two sisters, Edith T. Muffly, and Dorothy G. Spaid.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Verna will be conducted at 1 p.m., Thursday, at the St. John’s United Church of Christ, 417 Market St., Mifflinburg, with Pastor Ted Justice, officiating.
