Thomas R. Hackenberg, 82, of New Berlin, entered into rest on Sunday, May 11, 2025, at home.
He was born December 30, 1942, in Mifflinburg, a son of the late William and Dorothy (Zimmerman) Hackenberg. On October 8, 1977, in Mifflinburg, he married the former Bonnie R. Wenrick, who survives.
Tom attended Mifflinburg High School.
He served in the US Army from 1960 until his honorable discharge in 1968.
Tom was employed at Ritz-Craft, Mifflinburg for 29 years, Bucknell Golf Course for 10 years, and worked as security for Mifflinburg School District.
He was a member of the Mifflinburg American Legion Post 410, Mifflinburg Moose and Middleburg Moose.
Tom was a member of the Mifflinburg Hose Company for over 50 years, and the New Berlin Fire Company for 10 years.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 47 years; six daughters and five sons-in-law, Linda and Ed Garrett of Florida, Vicki Hackenberg of New Berlin, Wendy and James Greathouse of Middleburg, Deana and John Arnold of Port Trevorton, Carol and Wayne Stahl of Mifflinburg, Jeannette and Mike Kindrew of Florida; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Gladys Walter of Millheim, and Dottie and Bob Walter of Mifflinburg; three sisters-in-law, Donna Hackenberg, Judy Hackenberg, and Melanie Hackenberg; 15 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Thomas R. Hackenberg, II; five brothers, Mike, Gary, William, Richard, and Robert Hackenberg; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Joan Hartzell and Jean and Kenneth Wagner; and two grandchildren.
Following Tom's wishes, services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
