Sharon Louise Lawer

Sharon Louise (Shadle) Lawer, 74, of Lewisburg, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, August 15, 2026, with her loving husband, George, by her side.

Sharon was born on November 19,1951, in Shamokin, to Jerry and Betty (Tobias) Shadle. She was a 1969 graduate of Shamokin Area High School. In 2016, Sharon retired from Bucknell University following a 28-year career, during which she worked in the Career Services Center and the Alumni Relations Office. She cherished the friendships she made throughout her years at Bucknell and was especially proud to serve as secretary to the Bucknell Alumni Board.

Sharon was a longtime and active member of First Reformed United Church of Christ in Sunbury, where she served for many years as a Sunday School teacher. Her faith was an important part of her life, as was the love she shared with her family and all those who she met.

On November 4, 1972, Sharon married her best friend, George Lawer, at Grace Lutheran Church in Shamokin. Together, they shared 53 wonderful years of marriage, filled with love, and countless cherished memories. They especially enjoyed watching their children and grandchildren participate in their many activities, rarely ever missing an important moment in their lives.

Sharon loved cooking and baking, and was known for her amazing homemade pot pie and cookies. She spent countless hours on sewing projects, and crocheting blankets for each of her grandchildren. One of her greatest joys was traveling to New England to visit her sister, Joan, and her annual trips to Knoebels with her sister, Cathy. Her love of the beach began as a child, and she treasured the yearly family trips to Ocean City, New Jersey, where she spent hours by the ocean enjoying time with her husband, children and grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, George, Sharon is survived by her loving daughters and their families: Jennifer (Steve) Brown and their children, Madison, Macy (Collin Miller), and Makenna; and Julie (Jeff) Rowe and their children, Grant, Gwynn, and Grady. She is also survived by her sister, Cathy (Charles) Dunkelberger; her “bonus sister”, Tammy (Jim) Lang; and her “honorary sister”, Karen Camp. In addition, she is survived by her sisters-in-law, Frances (Peter) Carroll, Sharon Badman, and Pam (Dennis) Keller; brother-in-law, David (Jo Ann) Lawer; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Jerry and Betty; her in-laws, Jim and June Frits; her sister, Joan (John) Camp; and her twin nephews, Adam and Aaron Dunkelberger.

Sharon will be remembered for her loving heart, generous spirit, devotion to her family, and the many ways she made those around her feel loved. Her greatest joy was her family, and the memories she created with them will be treasured always.

Services will be held privately by the family.
