Samuel B. Schell, 85, Laurelton

Samuel "Sam" Bingaman Schell, 85, formerly of Laurelton, entered into rest at 11:55 a.m., Saturday, February 22, 2014, at the Regional Hospital of Scranton.

He was born July 17, 1928, in Laurelton, a son of the late Harold L. and Kathryn (Hoffman) Schell. On July 20, 1951, he married the former Janice Greenly, who preceded him in death in 1990.

Sam was a 1946 graduate of Laurelton High School.

He attended the Hironimus Union Church, Weikert.

Sam served in the Army as a Master Sergeant from September 5, 1950 until his honorable discharge April 26, 1952.

He was employed as a truck driver for Fulmer Trucking, Shamokin Dam, for 25 years. Sam then worked at the Danville Post Office, until he retired in 1990.

Sam was a member of the Union County Sportsmens Club, Weikert.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, refurnishing furniture, watching the Philadelphia Phillies, and spending time with his dog, Oscar.

Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Stephen E. and Mary Jean Schell of Erie; one daughter and son-in-law, Sandra K. and Robert K. Fidler of Jersey Shore; four grandchildren, Rebecca Fidler and her companion Adam Day, Robert Fidler, Dr. Amy and her husband Dr. Ben Click, and Kevin Schell; two great grandchildren, Jonathan and Shawn Day; six sisters and three brothers-in-law, Miriam Bressler of Freehold, NJ, Lois and Louis Elliott, of Mifflinburg, Betty and Donald Shoemaker of Mifflinburg, Nancy J. Wagner of Mifflinburg, Suzanne and Clarence Chambers of Mifflinburg, and Rebecca Brobst of Glen Iron.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard, Donald, and James Schell.

Family and friends are welcome from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Thursday, at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m., with Pastor Ralph Unroe, officiating.

Burial will be in the Lincoln Chapel Cemetery, with military honors by the Mifflinburg American Legion Post 410.
