Ruth A. Henry

January 3, 1944 — November 2, 2025

Lewisburg

Ruth Ann (Ballas) Henry, 81 of Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, was called to her Heavenly home on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at her home surrounded by family, including her beloved husband of 40 years, Allen K. Henry, and her son, Joel Todd Brown.

Ruth Ann was born January 3, 1944 in Three Springs, PA, she was the daughter of Peter Paul and Lois Jean Ballas. She was a graduate of Southern Huntingdon High School and became a trained dental hygienist, a profession she practiced with care and dedication for many years. Her first employer was Dr. Radford Locke of Orbisonia. She was employed most recently by Dental Health Associates of Milton, where she worked faithfully until retirement.

Ruth Ann became an avid fan of high school and collegiate wrestling and could be found as often as possible among the enthusiastic crowds at Penn State wrestling matches. She led an active and healthy lifestyle with daily exercise and yoga whenever possible.

Of all her leisure pursuits, flower gardening brought her the greatest joy. Her green thumb was readily apparent in her extensive and lovingly tended perennial flower beds. She delighted in every aspect of gardening and always looked forward to adding new plants and generously sharing cuttings with others.

No description of Ruth Ann would be complete without mentioning her great love for both cats and dogs. While several beloved pets took up permanent residence in her home, there were also countless visiting felines who benefited from her kindness through outdoor buffets she faithfully provided. In her quieter moments, she loved reading a wide range of fiction and had a special appreciation for the poetry of Mary Oliver.

Ruth Ann was an active and cherished member of Saint Paul's @ The Farm United Church of Christ in Lewisburg, where she served joyfully as a volunteer. Her church family, led by Pastor Timothy Hogan-Palazzo, provided true spiritual guidance and loving physical assistance throughout her illness.

In addition to her husband and son, she is survived by her daughter-in-law, Karin, and two granddaughters, Carly Conboy of Harbor Creek, PA, and Cassandra Cooper of Littleton, MA, as well as four brothers: Steve Ballas and wife Barbara (Bowser) of Three Springs, PA; Denny Ballas and wife Trish (Curfman) of Spring Grove, PA; Stan Ballas and wife Sara (Singhchan) of Amissville, VA; and John Ballas and wife Susan (Book) of Sykesville, MD. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and in-laws. She was preceded in death by her parents.
