Ruth Ely

MIFFLINBURG – Ruth Ann Ely, 67, of 1919 Dietrich Rd., entered into rest at 7:03 p.m., Thursday, January 1, 2015, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
She was born December 8, 1947, in Mifflinburg, a daughter of the late Albert, Sr. and Myrtle (Aikey) Heimbach. On August 29, 1964, in Mifflinburg, she married Samuel L. Ely, who survives.
Ruth was employed as a nurse's aide at the Laurelton Center, for many years, and then retired from the Selinsgrove Center in 2009.
She enjoyed fishing, and traveling to the Outer Banks, North Carolina.
Surviving in addition to her husband of 50 years, are five brothers and four sisters-in-law, Harold and Nina Heimbach of Muncy, Raymond and Denise Heimbach of West Plains, Missouri, Kenneth “Butch” Heimbach of West Plains, Robert and Vicki Heimbach of Mifflinburg, and Albert, Jr. and Nan Heimbach of Williamsburg, Virginia; eight sisters and four brothers-in-law, Charlotte and Wallace Bowersox of Winfield, Rosalie and James Starks, Sr. of Mifflinburg, Patricia Jows of Penns Creek, Wanda and William Wert of Sunbury, Barbara and Richard Walters of Selinsgrove, Vera Betz of Mifflinburg, Florence Martin and her companion Robert Connor of Tampa, Florida, and Carol Tkach of Penns Creek; one sister-in-law, Suzanne Keller of Middleburg; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Willard Heimbach and Bernard Heimbach; and one sister, Arlene Smith.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg.
