On May 3rd, 2025, Rosaria Marchiano, 89, went home to be with the Lord and her loving husband.
Rosaria was born in Carini, Sicily, on November 24, 1935. She met her husband, Francesco Marchiano, in her hometown and later went on to marry him on October 18, 1958. The two of them had three wonderful children where they raised them in Carini, instilling all the Italian traditions. Although Rosaria spent her later life in the United States, she promoted her Italian culture through her family values and traditions.
Rosaria had a love for cooking, baking, and knitting. She would always visit her grandkids with lots of baked goods to sugar them up! She loved knitting various things for her children and grandchildren to be able to use in their homes. The minute a grandchild was born, she would be knitting many things for when they were adults. One of her favorite things was to make fresh pasta. She would spend hours making tons of pasta to be able to give to her family and fill their bellies. She would have a lot of patience when the grandkids wanted to join in and help. Passing down traditions and family recipes was something she was passionate about.
Her infectious smile and laughter was noticed by many when they would visit Original Italian Pizza in Mifflinburg. Rosaria was always helping out in the restaurant and trying to talk to the customers, even though they may not have understood Italian.
Surviving are her children, Anna (Salvatore) Mazzamuto, Giuseppe (Rosalia) Marchiano, Antonio (Giovanna) Marchiano; grandchildren, Phillis (Jeremy) Shaffer, Giuseppe Mazzamuto, Rosaria (Stephen) Clemens, Francesco Marchiano, Valentina Marchiano, Francesco Marchiano, Giovanni Marchiano, Massimo Marchiano; great grandchildren, Lukas and Hailey Shaffer, Salvatore Mazzamuto, and Emilia Clemens; siblings; and many loving nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, May 12, at Saint George Catholic Church, 775 Forest Hill Road, Mifflinburg, with Father Fred Wangwe, A.J., as celebrant.
Burial will follow in the Mifflinburg Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers or other acts of donations, the family encourages gifts to be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Rosaria’s life.
Arrangements are by Roupp Funeral Home Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Road, Mifflinburg.
