MIFFLINBURG – Robert Clayton Shoemaker, 88, a lifelong resident of 11780 Old Turnpike Rd., entered into rest at 12:40 p.m., Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at Kramm Healthcare and Rehabilitation, Milton.
He was born May 3, 1926, in Mifflinburg, a son of the late Alvin and Ruth (Catherman) Shoemaker. On April 28, 1945, in Mifflinburg, he married the former Sarah M. Pick, who survives.
Robert was a 1943 graduate of Mifflinburg High School.
He served as an Aviation Machinist Mate in the Navy during World War II from 1943 until his honorable discharge in 1946.
Robert was employed at Pennsylvania House, Lewisburg.
He was a member of the Mifflinburg Church of the Nazarene.
Robert enjoyed farming, and working on tractors and farm equipment.
Surviving in addition to his wife of nearly 70 years, are three sons and daughters-in-law, Carl and Nancy Shoemaker of Mifflinburg, Gary and Wanda Shoemaker of Cleona, and Dale and Joy Shoemaker of Millmont; four grandchildren and their spouses, Christopher and Deborah Shoemaker of Elizabethtown, Megan and Greg Buck of Palmyra, Diana and Mike Graf of Woolrich, and Stewart and Patricia Shoemaker of Allentown; four great grandchildren, Seth, Paige, Natalie, and Nathan; and one brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Betty Shoemaker of Millmont.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Billy Shoemaker; and one sister, Helen Fagley.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Robert will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 11th, at the Mifflinburg Church of the Nazarene, 12 Market St., with Rev. Wayne S. Krell, officiating. Military honors will be by the Mifflinburg American Legion Post 410 and area veterans.
Family and friends are welcome to a time of fellowship and refreshments at the church immediately following the service.
