Pauline Sauers

June 13, 1926 — July 23, 2015

SELINSGROVE – Pauline “Polly” N. Sauers, 89, entered into rest at 12:55 p.m., Thursday, July 23, 2015, at the Manor at Penn Village, Selinsgrove, where she had been a resident for the past five weeks.  Previously, she had been a resident of Grayson View Assisted Living, Shamokin Dam, and a long time resident of New Berlin.

She was born June 13, 1926, outside of Mifflinburg, in Rand, a daughter of the late Monroe and Vertie (Schreffler) Neiswender.  On August 1, 1948, in the Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Berlin, with Rev. John Weikel officiating, she married George “Lewie” Sauers, who preceded her in death June 20, 2002.

Polly was a 1943 graduate of Mifflinburg High School.

She retired as the Assistant to the Dean of Engineering at Bucknell University, Lewisburg, after 17 years of service.

Polly was a long time member of the Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Berlin.

Her hobbies included reading and sewing.  Polly was often seen reading a good book or sitting at her sewing machine putting the finishing touches on a dress.  She was an extremely talented seamstress.

Polly enjoyed spending time with her children and their spouses, and her grandchildren.

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Romany E. and John N. Fisher of Port Trevorton, and Rene A. and Duane J. Bruhl of Richfield; two grandchildren, Jill A. and her husband Todd Ferrante of Ocean City, Maryland, and Derek J. And his wife Amanda Fisher of Selinsgrove; and one very precious great granddaughter, Sophia A. Ferrante of Ocean City.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Robert Neiswender.

A private graveside service will be conducted at the New Berlin Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
