Orville "Bear" L. Spangler, Sr.

Orville “Bear” L. Spangler, Sr., 87, of 9137 Route 204, Winfield, entered into rest at 10:53 a.m., Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at home.

He was born November 27, 1938, in New Berlin, a son of the late Paul R. and Elma M. (Wetzel) Spangler.

Bear was a 1956 graduate of Mifflinburg High School.

He and his brothers started and retired from Spangler Brothers, Inc., New Berlin, building and remodeling residential homes.

Bear was a member of the Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Berlin.

He was the President for many years of the Union County Sportsmen’s Club, Weikert, life member of the Union County Social Club, Kratzerville Volunteer Fire Company, New Berlin Legion social member, Sunbury Shrine Club, Irem Shriners, 50-year member of Lafayette 194, Selinsgrove, and Selinsgrove Moose.

Bear enjoyed volunteer work, painting, hunting, and traveling on hunting trips.

Surviving is his significant other, Becky Beaver of Winfield; two daughters and one son-in-law, Peggy and Kenneth Reinard of Selinsgrove, and Christine Spangler of Elizabethtown; one son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Mary Eaton of Selinsgrove; one sister, Julia Fetter of New Berlin; and many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Orville Spangler, Jr.; five brothers, Kenneth, Alvin, Harold, Clair, and Gary Spangler; one sister, Marian Reich; and his wife, P. Joan Spangler.

Family and friends are welcome from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, June 23, and 10 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 24, at Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Road, Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11, with Pastor Beverly Hoffman, officiating.

Burial will be in New Berlin Cemetery.
