Neil S. Moyer, 89, Mifflinburg

Neil S. Moyer, 89, of 435 Moyer Rd., for the past 54 years, entered into rest at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, December 4, 2010, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.

He was born March 2, 1921, in Limestone Township, a son of the late Homer and Malsie (Shawver) Moyer. On October 9, 1941, in New Berlin, he married the former Ida P. Swartzlander, who survives.

Neil was a 1938 graduate of Mifflinburg High School.

In addition to farming his entire life, he was employed as a truck driver for 24 years, and a self-employed auctioneer for 40 years.

Neil was a member of the Dreisbach United Church of Christ, Lewisburg.

He was a Philadelphia Phillies fan and also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling with his wife and friends throughout the United States and Canada.

Neil was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons Lodge #370, Mifflinburg.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 69 years, are one daughter and son-in-law, Roberta and Rodrick Corey of Lanesboro, Massachusetts; one son and daughter-in-law, Neil and Cindy Moyer of Mifflinburg; one sister, Peggy Doebler of Mifflinburg; 6 grandchildren and their spouses, Rod and Candace Corey of Yarmouth, Maine, Ryan and Kristen Corey of Hingham, Mass., Neil and Amy Moyer of Mifflinburg, Kayse and Stephen Corrieri of York, Derrick Moyer of Mifflinburg, and Norman and Courtney Moyer of Mifflinburg; and 14 great grandchildren, Hannah, Anders, Gunnar, Mac, Maggie, Shane, Jared, Alyssa, Gianna, John, Trisha, Rebecca, Vanessa, and Alexis.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Homer and Richard Moyer; and two sisters, Helen Hommel and Margie Haas.

Family and friends are welcome from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Tuesday, at the Dreisbach United Church of Christ, 875 Dreisbach Church Rd., Lewisburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m., with Rev. Michael C. Romig, officiating.

Burial will be in the Dreisbach Church Cemetery.
