LEWISBURG - Mary Bingaman Phillips, 82, of 411 S. 22nd St. since 2001, formerly of Millmont, entered into rest at 7:10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 8, 2010, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
She was born July 6, 1927, in Hartley Township, a daughter of the late James Harrison and Mary E. (Lamey) Bingaman. In 1946 she married Donald E. Stroup, who preceded her in death. On May 3, 1972, at the Christ's United Lutheran Church, Millmont, she married Eugene F. Phillips, who survives.
Mary was a 1945 graduate of Laurelton High School.
She was employed as a matron for 25 years at the Laurelton State Center until her retirement in 1981.
Mary was an active lifetime member of the Christ's United Lutheran Church, Millmont, where she enjoyed assisting with the church food stand at the West End Fair, and serving meals at church functions.
She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Mary enjoyed playing bingo, hunting, and camping with her family along Penns Creek in Millmont, and the Grey Squirrel and Mount Nittany Campgrounds.
Surviving in addition to her husband of 37 years, are one daughter and son-in-law, Mary J. and Kenneth M. Roush of Bloomsburg; one stepdaughter, Deborah L. and her husband Douglas Stein of Lebanon; one granddaughter, Gwen R. and her husband David P. Utt of Bloomsburg; two stepgrandchildren, Brandy and Corey; two great-grandchildren, Ella and Lucas Utt; several stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, John, William, and Kenneth Bingaman; and three sisters, Carrie A. Camp, Pauline M. Bingaman, and Maranda A. Bingaman in infancy; and one stepdaughter, Sharon D. Phillips.
Visitors may call from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday at the Christ's United Lutheran Church, 13765 Old Turnpike Rd., Millmont, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. with the Rev. John D. Yost, officiating.
Burial will be in the Hartleton Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Christ's United Lutheran Church, 13765 Old Turnpike Rd., Millmont, PA 17845.
