Marlin Kerstetter

April 25, 1951 — October 6, 2016

WEIKERT – Marlin “Moe” W. Kerstetter, 65, of 302 Jollys Grove Lane, for the past 4 years, formerly of Long Lane for 41 years, entered into rest at 2:49 p.m., Thursday, October 6, 2016, at his home, after a 4 year battle with cancer.

He was born April 25, 1951, in Lewisburg, a son of Madeline J. (Kahl) Kerstetter of Mifflinburg, and the late David F. Kerstetter.  On October 2, 1971, at the Lincoln Chapel United Methodist Church, Laurelton, he married the former Joyce I. Wertz, who survives.

Marlin was a member of the Lincoln Chapel United Methodist Church, Laurelton.

He was a 1969 graduate of Mifflinburg Area High School and attended Pennsylvania College of Technology, Williamsport, studying Architectural Graphics.

Marlin was employed as a Psychiatric Aide at the Laurelton Center, Harrisburg State Hospital, and Danville State Hospital, for over 35 years, until he retired in 2011.

He was a member of the Union County Sportsmen’s Club, Weikert, and the Bear Springs Cabin.  Moe was part owner of the MB&C Farm, Millmont.

Marlin enjoyed hunting, fishing, butchering and making scrapple, spending time with his pug dogs, and entertaining at his cottage in Weikert.  He loved his family, grandchildren, and talking to his mother every morning.

Earlier in life, he enjoyed playing baseball for Long’s Garage and Goss’s Garage.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 45 years, are one son, Brian E. Kerstetter of Mifflinburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Denise R. and Kyle D. Hare of Mifflinburg; one sister and brother-in-law, Ruth Ann and Frank E. Reber of Mifflinburg; 3 grandchildren, Colton M. Hare, Nakita R. Kerstetter, and Brock Hare; 9 nieces and nephews and their spouses, Tammy and Corey Klingman, Danny and Cora Reber, Kevin and Ashley Reber, Londa and Gary Bennett, Lori and Scot Maneval, Kelly Munns, Josh and Trish Wertz, Jeremiah Wertz, and Amanda and Dan Diehl.

There will be no public viewing.  Family and friends are welcome to a time of visitation from 5 to 8 p.m., Sunday, at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Monday, at the Lincoln Chapel Cemetery, Laurelton, with Rev. Richard VonNeida, officiating.
