Linda Katherman

Linda Marian Katherman, 63, of 8319 Furnace Rd., Mifflinburg, left her earthly home at 1:55 p.m., Sunday, July 14, 2019, after a 14 year battle with metastatic breast cancer.

She was born August 26, 1955, in Lewisburg, a daughter of Charles H. Ruckle of Millmont and the late Laura Lee (Merrill) Ruckle.  On June 14, 1975, she married her high school sweetheart, Gregory A. Katherman, who survives.

Linda was a 1973 graduate of Mifflinburg Area High School and graduated from Wesley College, Dover, Delaware, with an Associates Degree in nursing in 1975.

She worked 15 years in nursing while she and Greg raised their four children.  Linda returned to school and graduated in 1993 from St. Joseph’s College, Windham, Maine, with a Bachelors Degree in Nursing Psychology.

Linda worked most of her 40 year career as a pediatric nurse.  She began her nursing career at Laurelton Center in 1975.  Linda worked as a Psychiatric Nurse and then joined Evangelical Hospital staff in 1981 as a part time float nurse and pediatric OB nurse.  In 1988, she joined the Lewisburg Pediatrics Practice.

She was certified as a Pennsylvania School Nurse in 1993 and worked at Mifflinburg School District for 10 years starting in 1995.  Linda worked at the Selinsgrove Center from 2005 to 2007 and ended her nursing career as a School Health Consultant, Community Health Nurse for Pennsylvania Department of Health in Harrisburg.

Linda was very active in Girl Scouts for 27 years, assisted with 4-H Club, Mifflinburg Swim Team for 10 years, and volunteered for the American Red Cross and charter member of the Susquehanna Piecemakers Quilt Guild, and active in the Vintage Gatherers of Muncy Historical Society.

She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Mifflinburg, where she was active in the choir for many years.

Linda loved her children and spending time with her family, traveling, sewing, quilting, and caring for animals.

Surviving in addition to her husband of 44 years and her father, are two sons and daughters-in-law, Eric and Nicole Katherman of Willow Street, and Brian and Joanna Katherman of Palmyra; two daughters and sons-in-law, Julie and Andrew Lohr of New Berlin, and Stacie and Jason Grohmann of Chicora; She adored her ten grandchildren, Quinn, Parker, Mia, Ryan, Owen, Connor, James, Liv, Wesley, and Audrey; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Karen and Tom Ruhl of Williamsport, and Peggy Diehl of Millmont; and one brother, Alan Ruckle of Millmont.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by one nephew, Robert Duncan.

A celebration of Linda’s life will be held Saturday, from 4-6 p.m., at the family home. All of Linda’s friends are welcome to attend.
