Loving Husband & Father, Proud World War II Veteran

Keith Dietterick, 92, was called home by his Lord at 9:15 p.m. Sunday, January 19, 2014. His death was due to the complications of aspiration pneumonia.

Born in Berwick on January 18, 1922, he was the son of the late Clifton and Emma (Painter) Dietterick. He attended the Berwick schools. He and his wife moved to the Milton area during the 1950 flood. In 2004, they became residents of the Riverwoods Community in Lewisburg.

Keith worked for the American Car & Foundry (AC&F) in Berwick until he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1942. He was a proud veteran of World War II, served as a combat medic in the European theater, participated in a night landing on Omaha Beach and when the war ended, participated in a service in Pilsen, Czechoslovakia honoring 11 members of his medical battalion who were lost during the war.

Upon his discharge in 1945, he married his childhood sweetheart Geraldine Watts in the First (now Wesley United) Methodist Church in Nescopeck. They celebrated 61 years of marriage together before her death in 2007.

In Milton, Keith worked for the Milton Steel Company, then Milton Manufacturing Company from 1950 until his retirement in 1984. He was a member of First (now Bethany United) Methodist Church in Milton since 1952, where he served as a member of various boards and committees and he enjoyed singing with the Chancel Choir. He was a member of the United Steelworkers of America, the Kiwanis Club of Milton and a lifetime member of the Watsontown VFW.

Keith is survived by his son Craig A., Harleysville; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two infant brothers, a sister Mabel and brothers Ralph and Ronald.

A memorial service of Thanksgiving, celebrating his life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Bethany United Methodist Church, 107 South Front Street, Milton, PA 17847, with his Pastor Damien C. Brooks officiating. Inurnment will be in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge, at the convenience of the family.

Flowers will be provided by the family. Memorials may be sent in Keith's name to the Memorial Fund at Bethany, at the above address.

Funeral arrangements are by Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg.
