Anagene Wagner passed away peacefully at Wellspan Evangelical Community Hospital in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania on Monday, August 31, 2026.
Anagene was born on March 6, 1935 in Kenova, West Virginia, to the late Elmer and Merle (Dickerson) Chadwick. She spent her summers at Dreamland Pool, where she met her husband, David R. Wagner. Anagene and Dave were married April 16, 1955 and later that year welcomed their first son, Michael. They began their life together in their first home in Ohio, which came complete with an outhouse. Then moved to Kenova, West Virginia, where their second son, Sam, was born in the nearby hospital. They later moved to New York City and Long Island, before settling in Malvern, Pennsylvania.
While living in Malvern, Anagene attended West Chester University and earned her degree in Speech-Language Pathology. She worked as a Speech-Language Pathologist for many years, a career she took great pride in, before she and Dave retired to Harteton, Pennsylvania.
There, she enjoyed running the antique business side by-side with Dave and spending many winters in Arcadia, FL.
Anagene was a phenomenal baker, and her pie crusts were always light and flaky.
She loved gardening and took great pride in growing beautiful flowers and vegetables. She was also devoted to the many pets she had over the years and loved spoiling them with coffee milk or a lick off a jollyrancher.
Anagene is survived by her husband, David; her son Sam (Dawn) Wagner; daughter-in-law, Amy Wagner; grandchildren, Demry Wagner, Katherine Wagner (Aaron Clark), and Madeline Wagner; her beloved dog, Sparky; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Anagene was preceded in death by her son, Michael; her parents and her siblings, Fred Chadwick, Charles “Sonny” Chadwick, Betty Lykins, and Pauline Sperry.
Follwing Anagene’s wishes, there will be no public funeral or memorial service.
Arrangements are by Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg.
