John “Jack” F. Showalter, 72, of Paddy Mountain Rd., Millmont, entered into rest at 11:59 a.m., Monday, June 22, 2020, at home.
He was born December 11, 1947 in Millmont, a son of the late John W. and Lillian (Fetterolf) Showalter. On December 27, 1995, he married the former Margaret E. Wolfley, who survives.
Jack was a 1965 graduate of Mifflinburg High School and was given a DEKALB Accomplishment Award, which showcases the abilities of outstanding agriculture students. He attended Penn State University.
He served in the US Army in Korea during the Vietnam War from 1967, until his honorable discharge in 1973.
Jack enjoyed hunting, fishing, his 1976 Firebird, and spending time with his dogs, Little Bear and Tippy.
He was a member of the New Berlin American Legion Post 957.
Surviving in addition to his wife are four sons and two daughters-in-law, Donald and Jamie Aumiller of Beaver Springs, Leroy Aumiller of Lewistown, Stanford C. Aumiller of Millmont, and Eric and Gina Dauberman of Laurys Station; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Sherry and Allen Good of McClure, Shelly and Shawn Byers of Honeybrook, Cindy and Calvin Walter of Beavertown, and Donna Aumiller of Lewisburg; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Stephen and Elaine Showalter of Danville, and David and Lori Jo Showalter of Millmont; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Elizabeth and Richard DeVett of Millmont, and Rebecca Finsterbush of Millmont; 19 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter in infancy.
Services will be conducted privately at the convenience of the family.
Burial will be held in Lincoln Chapel Cemetery.
