John Miller

d. August 14, 2014

John H. Miller, 75, Mifflinburg

John Henry Miller, 75, of 223 Powder House Lane, passed into eternity at the breaking of dawn, to meet the Lord he loved and to sing his favorite hymn "I Owe the Lord a Morning Song", Thursday, August 14, 2014, at his home.

He was born October 2, 1938, in Dover, Delaware, a son of the late Andrew D. and Katie (Beachy) Miller. On December 1, 1960, he married the former Susanna Miller, who survives. His death breaks a union of 53 years.

John was a member of the Shady Grove Christian Fellowship, Mifflinburg.

For a number of years, he was employed by New Holland, Belleville, and was owner and operator of the Amoco, Penns Creek. For 33 years, John was employed as a professional blasting technician, a work he thoroughly enjoyed.

Twenty years ago, John was diagnosed with carceroid cancer. The doctors sent him home to die, but his wife did extensive research and began preparing foods for healing. By watching his diet and because of God's gift of healing, John's cancer was held at bay. During that time, he enjoyed traveling with his wife to Europe, the Holy Lands, Alaska, and many other places. John's children and grandchildren also cherish the gift of those years.

John was diagnosed with Alzheimer's two years ago and more recently his cancer had revived. During that time he was lovingly cared for by his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons and one daughter-in-law, William and Thelma Miller of Millmont, John H. Miller, Jr. of Millmont, and Allen Miller of Mifflinburg; two daughters and one son-in-law, Carolyn Miller of Mifflinburg, and Arlene and Tim Yoder of Mannsville, New York; 9 grandchildren and their spouses, Jeremy and Keysha Miller, Jonelle Miller and her fiance Jevon Witmer, Jonathan and Tiffany Miller, Sandra, Leslie, Austin, and Susanna Yoder, David and Sandra Yoder, and Justin and Melissa Yoder; 5 great grandchildren, Tyler, Alexis, Dominick, Sydney, and Aleah; 4 brothers and three sisters-in-law, Fred and Sara Miller of Belleville, Marty Miller of Hawaii, Dan and Alta Miller of McVeytown, and Jay and Pat Miller of Lewistown; 3 sisters and two brothers-in-law, Emma and Sam Peachy of Belleville, Susanna and Kore Yoder of Belleville, and Rosa Miller Peachy of Reedsville.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Roman.

Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, at the Shady Grove Christian Fellowship, 5327 Buffalo Rd., Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m., Monday, with officiating ministers, Joe Peachey, Dave King, Tim Yoder, and Simon Bender.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.
