Joanne Shannon

Joanne W. Shannon, 91, of Lewisburg, entered into rest at 3:20 a.m., Sunday, September 21, 2025, at Wellspan Evangelical Hospital, Lewisburg.

She was born November 2, 1933 in New Columbia, a daughter of the late Peter L. and Elizabeth (Finney) Wilver. On December 6, 1995, she married Dale E. Shannon, who survives.

Joanne was a 1952 graduate of Milton High School.

She was employed at PennDot as a secretary, Bucknell University as Admissions Office Manager for 30 years, and as Union County Jury Commissioner for 8 years.

Joanne was very active in the Democratic Committee, both state and local.

Surviving in addition to her husband, are one brother, Donald Wilver; one sister-in-law, Louise Wilver; two daughters and their spouses, Debbie and Ken Dewire of Lewisburg, and Nancy and Glenn Troester of Mifflinburg; two grandchildren and their spouses, Amy and Gene Baker, and Katy and Emily Baugus; one great-granddaughter, Katlyn Weaver; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Bill, Dick, Jim, and Alfred; and two sisters, Faye and Helen Mae.

A private burial will be held in Mazeppa Union Cemetery, at the convenience of the family.
