Joan E. Emery, 89, of Mifflinburg, entered into rest at 2:53 a.m. on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at Nottingham Village, Northumberland.
Born December 7, 1936, in Danville, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Lois (Klapp) Miller. She was first married to John Yocum from 1954 until 1969. On July 23, 1971, she married Rodney W. Emery, who preceded her in death in 2025.
Joan was a 1954 graduate of Milton High School.
She was employed as an Administrative Assistant at Laurelton State School for many years. She also served her community by volunteering as an election poll worker in the West Ward of Mifflinburg.
She enjoyed traveling, playing cards, cooking, reading novels, and studying her Bible. Joan especially cherished time spent with her family and her girlfriends.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Allison Yocum of Mooresville, North Carolina, and Jim Emery and Gretchen Powell of Mifflinburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Mark Culton of Harleysville; one sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Roger Counts of Statesboro, Georgia; seven grandchildren, Mark, Adam, Joshua, David, Stephanie, Hailea, and Aaron; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Colleen Clark; one grandson, Benjamin Culton; and one brother, Larry Miller.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 21, at Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Road, Mifflinburg, where a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Pastor Mark Culton.
