Jerry D. Zimmerman, 75, of Lewisburg, entered into rest at 8:10 p.m., Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Oak Glen Nursing, Lewisburg.
He was born February 5, 1950 in Lewisburg, a son of the late Paul R. and Louise Mae (Feltman) Zimmerman. He is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Laird and Sharon Zimmerman of Mifflinburg; one sister and brother-in-law, Cindy and James Sauers of Mifflinburg; one niece and spouse, Tiffany and Dan Delcamp; great-grand nieces, Elizabeth and Carley Delcamp; friends, Robert and Eve Rantz and Gordy Klingman of Mifflinburg; and Jose Luis Pedemonte, John Anderson, LaRon Allen, Gaby Hayes, and Eileen and Ed Pound, all of Washington D.C.
Jerry was the grandson of the late Howard and Mable (Knouse) Feltman, and John and Sara (Maurer) Zimmerman. He was also preceded by his longtime friend, Jim Mapes of New Berlin.
He was a 1968 graduate of Mifflinburg High School. Jerry attended Computer Science Institute, Philadelphia, and Strayer College, Washington D.C.
In 1973, Jerry opened the Village Flower Shop in Mifflinburg. He incorporated antiques with the flower business. In 1984, Jerry closed his shop and moved back to his beloved Washington, D.C., where he was a floral designer for various shops in Alexandria, VA, Bethesda, MD, and Washington D.C. He lived and worked there for 29 years, before moving back to Mifflinburg and retiring.
In 1999, he and his friend Luis went to Peru, South America. It was a wonderful experience, meeting and staying with Luis’ family members, and taking a train up the Andes Mountain to see Machu Picchu and then taking a helicopter back down the Andes!
For several years while in D.C., Jerry was a volunteer Hospice Care Provider, and was associated with Damien Ministries Hospice (division of Catholic Charities), Christ House Hospice, Mother Theresa’s Gift of Peace Hospice, and Washington Home and Hospice.
Living in Washington D.C. was the best 29 years of Jerry’s life, where he had wonderful, rewarding and exciting experiences
