Janet Belle Dutrow, 93, of Mifflinburg, entered into eternal rest at 11:36 a.m., Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at Brookdale Grayson View Senior Living Center, Selinsgrove.
She was born January 12, 1933, in Centre Hall, a daughter of the late Blaine and Alta (Cummings) Leister. On June 20, 1953, in Centre Hall, she married Donald “Ray” Dutrow, who proceeded her in death on November 11, 2015, after 62 years of marriage.
Janet was a 1951 graduate of Centre Hall - Potter High School.
She was employed as a teacher’s aide at the Selinsgrove Center, and in learning support at the Mifflinburg Area School District.
Janet was an active and dedicated member of Mifflinburg United Methodist Church, for over 72 years, where she taught Sunday School and faithfully assisted in many church events. She lovingly prepared hundreds of cookies for the church stand at the Christkindl Market every year and also made chocolate Easter eggs for the church sale for many years.
She enjoyed competing in sewing competitions and was a leader in the local 4-H group sharing her gift, talent, and skill of sewing with many young girls, and was a member of the Mifflinburg Civic Club.
Janet loved spending time at the beach and making memories with her family. She was an accomplished card player, an activity she enjoyed even recently with her family at the nursing home. As a devoted homemaker, Janet spent countless hours of her time preserving the vegetables from Ray’s garden and preparing them for her family. She and Ray enjoyed traveling with their dear friends during retirement.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Deborah Dutrow of New Columbia; one daughter, Sandra Cresswell of Mifflinburg; five grandchildren and their spouses, Renee and Jeremy St. Clair of Mifflinburg, T.J. and Caitlin Cresswell of Mifflinburg, Mark Cresswell of Mifflinburg, Megan and James Heistand of Lewisburg, and T. Drew and Abby Dutrow of Frederick, Maryland; 13 great grandchildren, Alexis, Garrett, Gavin, Grant, Gabe, and Isabella St. Clair, Mallory and Macey Heistand, Brody, Brielle, and Beckett Cresswell, Owen Cresswell, and Ava Dutrow.
She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Nicole A. Cresswell.
Family and friends are welcome to a time of visitation from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, February 14, at Mifflinburg United Methodist Church, 279 Market Street, Mifflinburg, where the funeral service will be conducted at 11.
Burial will be in the Mifflinburg Cemetery.
Memorial gifts may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
