James Martin Smith, 74, of Mifflinburg, entered into rest at 9:01 a.m., Thursday, January 1, 2026, at home.
He was born July 3, 1951, in Philadelphia, a son of the late William, Sr., and Mary Smith. On November 27, 1977, in Coatesville, he married the former Desiree LaMar, who survives.
James attended John F. Kennedy High School, Willingboro, New Jersey, and graduated from Cosmetology School in Coatesville in 1977.
He attended the Mifflinburg Church of Nazarene.
James served in the Marines from 1968 until his honorable discharge in 1970.
He was a Professional Hair Stylist and owner/operator of the James Martin Hair Salon, Lewisburg, for 43 years, until he retired in 2020.
James was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan and enjoyed attending games with family and friends.
He was a faithful servant of Jesus Christ and enjoyed helping people, loved all of his family and grandchildren, enjoyed cars, boating, skiing, and cooking.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 48 years, are two sons Ryan J. Smith and his fiancé Jodey Attinger of Millmont, and Joshua J. Smith of Mifflinburg; two daughters and sons-in-law, Asten E. and Brandon Rigel of Mechanicsburg, and Brittany L. and Blaine Haas of Milton; eight grandchildren, Adalynne Haas, Madelynn Attinger, Lyla Attinger, Giuliana Smith, Camdyn Rigel, Ethan Smith, Carson Rigel, and Ellia Smith; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Helyn DeAngelis of Philadelphia, and Patricia and Terrance Cummings of Milton; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Martin, Sr. and Annemarie Smith of Sunbury, and John and Jane Smith of Lewes, Delaware.
He was preceded in death by one brother, William Albert Smith, Jr; sister, Deborah Smith; nephew, Jason Smith; and niece, Deborah Brown.
Family and friends are welcome to a visitation from 11 a.m. to noon, Wednesday, January 7, at the Mifflinburg Church of the Nazarene, 12 Market Street, Mifflinburg, where the memorial service will be conducted at noon, with Rev. Wayne Krell, officiating. Philadelphia Eagles attire is welcomed at the memorial service.
Burial will be in the Mifflinburg Cemetery, with military honors accorded by American Legion Post 410 and VFW Post 1964, both of Mifflinburg.
