James Frederick Hassenplug, 80, of Mifflinburg, entered into rest Friday, July 24, 2026, at Geisinger Medical Center surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born July 23, 1946, in Danville, a son of the late Kenneth, Sr., and Nancy V. (Gebert) Hassenplug. On November 28, 1970, in Lewisburg, he married the love of his life the former Sara Walter, who survives.
James was a 1964 graduate of Lewisburg High School.
He served in the Air Force from December 1, 1965, until his honorable discharge November 28, 1969.
James was employed at American Home Foods in Milton for 32 years, leaving as an Assistant VP of purchasing. He was later employed at Furmanos Foods for 8 years before a well-deserved retirement.
James enjoyed golfing, target shooting, hunting and spending time with his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 55 years, are one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Stephen Fry of Mifflinburg; one son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Tara Hassenplug of Mifflinburg; two grandchildren, Ava Fry and Aden Hassenplug and two step-grandchildren, Makenna Dunlop and Dawson Dunlop.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Hassenplug, Jr.
Services will be private.
Arrangements are by Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg.
