James A. Gross

James “Jim” Allen Gross, 81, of Hartleton, entered into rest at 2:38 p.m., Sunday, July 21, 2024, at home.

He was born September 29, 1942, in Hartleton, a son of the late Palmer Wilson and Helen Mae (Woolsey) Gross. On March 16, 1985, he married the former Peggy Ann Paige, who survives.

Jim attended Mifflinburg High School.

He was a jack of all trades and was employed in construction, as a truck driver, and a shanty shaker. 

Jim was a member of the West End Fire Company and the Union County Sportsmen’s Club.

He enjoyed horseback riding and camping.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 39 years, are one daughter and son-in-law, Verginia and Eugene Houser of New Columbia; one son, James A. Gross, II of Millmont; one sister, Mary Jane Brungard of State College; two grandchildren, Stacey and her husband Chad Steininger of Middleburg, and Corey and his wife Chelsea Oberlin of Middleburg; and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Franklin, and Russell Gross; and two sisters, Nancy Lamey, and Shirley Day.

Funeral services will be private.
