Howard Weaver

LEWISBURG - Howard E. Weaver, 89, formerly of Middleburg, died in his home at 381 Hill School Road, at 11:15 p.m. on Tuesday, January 20, 2015. He was lovingly cared for by his wife and family, as well as Evangelical Hospice for the past nine months.

He was born January 3, 1926, in Columbiana, Ohio, a son of the late Edwin and Lena Weaver. On May 18, 1952 he married L. Arlene Witmer, who survives. Together they farmed in Columbiana, Ohio before moving their family to Pennsylvania in 1965. The Weaver dairy farm on Walnut Acres Road near Penns Creek, was also known for its years of tomato and strawberry production. Many area youth spent part of their summers helping the Weaver’s harvest crops.

Howard was a member of the Millmont Mennonite Church, where he served many years on the pastoral team.  He lived a full life, faithful to the Lord, ministering to his family, church and community.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of nearly 63 years, are three sons and two daughters-in-law, Ernest Weaver of Middleburg, James and Joy Weaver of Lewisburg, and Dan and Tina Weaver of Lewisburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and John Stoltzfus of Hillside, CO; and one daughter-in-law, Brenda Weaver of Millmont. Twenty-four children happily called him Grandpa, and 44 great-grandchildren blessed his days.

Also surviving are three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Sara Weaver of Columbiana, OH, Mary Ellen and Willis Eberly of Orville, OH, Anna Kathryn and George Reesor of Stouffville, Ontario, Canada.

He was preceded in death by one son, John Weaver; one daughter-in-law, Lois Weaver; two great grand-children; two brothers Paul Weaver and David Weaver; and two sisters Alma Martin and Edith Good.

Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Monday, at the Millmont Mennonite Church, 1250 Millmont Rd., where the funeral will be conducted at 10:30, Monday, with Richard Herr, Nathan Reiff, and Roy Longenecker, officiating ministers.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.
