Harvey Boop

February 1, 1931 — April 29, 2016

MILLMONT – Harvey G. Boop, 85, of 227 Harveys Dr., since 1975, entered into rest at 2:36 p.m., Friday, April 29, 2016, at Rolling Hills Manor, Millmont.

He was born February 1, 1931, in Millmont, a son of the late Lloyd L. (Todd) and Luella (Bowersox) Boop.  On October 23, 1970, in North Carolina, he married the former Cora E. Barnett, who survives.

Harvey served in the Army, paratroopers, 11th Air Born Division, 187th Regimented Combat Team, from December 31, 1947, until his honorable discharge January 6, 1952.

He was a member of the Hironimus Union Church, Weikert.

Harvey was employed as a stone mason and was recognized throughout Pennsylvania for his workmanship.

He was a member of the West End Fire Police for over 20 years and assisted with the constructing of the West End Fire Company building.

Harvey enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching NASCAR, baseball, and football.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 46 years, are one step-son, Daniel T. and his wife Maureen Lamey of Millmont; one daughter and son-in-law, Rachel and  Elwood Kline of Middleburg; three grandchildren, Judy Doldorf of Manassas, Virginia, Sandra Lamey of New York City, and Josh Lamey of South Carolina; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Garry Boop of Millmont, and Guy and Edna Hackenburg of Middleburg; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Linda and Clarence Valentine of Mifflinburg, and Margaret “Peg” Frecka of Ironton, Ohio; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one son, Glenn L. Boop; and one step-son, Earl Jacob Lamey.

Family and friends are welcome to a time of visitation from noon to 1 p.m., Sunday, May 15th, at the Hironimus Union Church, Weikert, where a memorial service will be conducted at 1, with Pastor Richard DeVett, officiating.

Funeral arrangements are by Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg.
