Harry Hallock

December 8, 1921 — April 5, 2015

SELINSGROVE – Harry Vernon Hallock, 93, of 100 Peach St., since 1954, entered into rest at 8:25 p.m., Sunday, April 5, 2015, at the Manor at Penn Village, Selinsgrove.

He was born December 8, 1921, in Stanton, Michigan, a son of the late Harry and Luanna (Bauman) Hallock.  On October 16, 1945, in Pottsville, he married the former Marie A. Strause, who survives.

Harry attended school in Stanton, Michigan.

He served in the Army, 3rd Armored Division during World War II, from January 22, 1942 until his honorable discharge October 10, 1945.

Harry was employed by a freight company as a truck driver.

He was an active member of the Dreisbach United Church of Christ, Lewisburg, since 1974, where he was a member of the Sunbeam Sunday school class.

Harry was a life member of the Middleburg V.F.W. Post 5640.

He loved his family and enjoyed watching sports, camping, traveling, and fishing.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 69 years, are one son and daughter-in-law, Gary R. and Deborah L. Hallock of Winfield; two step grandchildren, Christopher and his wife Jenny Runkle, and Heather Maynard and her companion Matthew Wood; two great grandchildren, John and Daniel Birster; and three step great grandchildren, Zachary and Kamryn Runkle, and Abigail Wood.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Amos and Dewey; one sister, Letha; and one granddaughter, Susan Birster.

Family and friends are welcome from noon to 1 p.m., Saturday, at the Dreisbach United Church of Christ, 875 Dreisbach Church Rd., Lewisburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 1, with Rev. James H. Gold, officiating.

Burial will be in the Lewisburg Cemetery, with military honors by area veterans.
