MIFFLINBURG – Harold Smith, 99, of 218 Walnut St., since 1940, entered into rest at 6:14 a.m., Tuesday, January 5, 2016, at Riverview Manor, Lewisburg.

He was born January 26, 1916, in Hartley Township, a son of the late Robert J. and Kathryn (Dale) Smith.  On July 8, 1939, in Hartleton, he married the former Grace Zubler, who preceded him in death January 12, 2006.

Harold was a 1934 graduate of Hartley Township High School.

He was a member of the Mifflinburg Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder.

Harold was employed as truck driver for Paul S. Crebs Trucking, Northumberland, for over 40 years.  He was a school bus driver for Mifflinburg School District for 10 years, and delivered food for Meals on Wheels for 15 years.

He was a 70 year member of the Mifflinburg Masonic Lodge #370, the Teamsters Union, and former member of the Shade Mountain Golf Club.

Harold enjoyed playing golf and shooting pool.

Surviving are two daughters and one son-in-law, Shirley S. Wilhelm of Mifflinburg, and Paula J. and Jeffrey Lord of Carmel, Indiana; one son and daughter-in-law, Larry M. and Judy Smith of Hampton Falls, New Hampshire; four grandchildren, Kristi Kriebel, Kelly Cherrup, Justin Smith, and Kenneth C. Smith; and five great grandchildren, Ashley Kriebel, Ryan Kriebel, Zachary Cherrup, Carter Smith, and Ava Smith.

He was preceded in death by one son, Spencer H. Smith; three brothers, Merlin, Albert, and Dale Smith; and one sister in infancy.

A memorial service  will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 25, at the Mifflinburg Presbyterian Church, 507 Green St. with Pastor John Rakow, officiating.
