Harold “Sonny” G. Hackenberg, 85, of Millmont, entered into rest at 4:05 p.m., Monday, May 18, 2026, at home.
He was born April 21, 1941, in Lewisburg, a son of the late Harold Holland and Naomi Ruth (Gessner) Hackenberg. On August 27, 1960, he married the former Norma Ann Catherman, who survives.
Harold attended Mifflinburg High School.
He served in the Marine Corps from 1958 until his honorable discharge in 1961.
Harold was employed as a boiler operator at Laurelton State School, until he retired in 1994.
He attended the West End Bible Fellowship.
Harold enjoyed gardening, hunting, ladle making, and spending time with his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 65 years, are one son and daughter-in-law, Andrew and Michelle Hackenberg of Millmont; two daughters and one son-in-law, Crystal and Steve Starks of Millmont, and Glenda Hackenberg of Mifflinburg; one sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Neil Shoreman of Millmont; two half-brothers, Charles and his wife Carolyn Hackenberg of Millmont, and James Hackenberg of Millmont; step siblings and spouses, Steve and Colleen Catherman of Middleburg, Barb and Roger Miller of Penns Creek, Lori Benner of Lewisburg, and Molly and Ken Maneval of Middleburg; 7 grandchildren, Andrew Stahl, Amanda Sheesley, Zachary Salter, Colby Hackenberg, Michael Hackenberg, Evan Hackenberg, and Logan Hackenberg; and 7 great grandchildren, Avery and Mia Stahl, Gannon Sheesley, Emmy, Alaina, Melanie, and Madelyn Hackenberg.
He was preceded in death by one son, Michael D. Hackenberg; and one sister, Hazel Ely.
Funeral services will be private.
