Grayden Barber

October 18, 1937 — April 20, 2017

Grayden Walter Barber, 79, of 5503 Buffalo Rd., Mifflinburg, for 43 years, peacefully went home to be with his Lord, at 12:07 a.m., Thursday, April 20, 2017, at Emmanuel Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, Danville.

He was born October 18, 1937, in New Columbia, a son of the late Walter and Margaret (Harter) Barber.  On January 22, 1961, at the Dreisbach United Church of Christ, Lewisburg, he married the former Martha Jean Erdley, who preceded him in death March 29, 2014.

Grayden was a member of the Dreisbach United Church of Christ, Lewisburg.

He was employed at Pennsylvania House, Lewisburg, for over 33 years, until the plant closed in 2007.  After retirement, Grayden worked in food service at Mifflinburg School District and Union County Sportsmens Club, Weikert.

Grayden was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge #96, Union County Sportsmens Club, Weikert, and WoodmenLife, Lewisburg.

He was a hard worker, and enjoyed gardening, riding his John Deere riding mower, camping, traveling, and spending time with his family.

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, David F. and Diane M. Barber of Dillsburg, and Brian A. and Cindy A. Barber of Mifflinburg; one daughter and beloved caregiver, Kathy E. Barber of Mifflinburg and her companion Corey L. Flood of McClure; four grandchildren, Ashlee, Zackary, Brandon, and Kaitlyne Barber; 2 adopted grandchildren, Michael and Rebecca Flood.

He was preceded in death by one sister, S. Jane Barber.

Family and friends are welcome from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, April 28th, at the Dreisbach United Church of Christ, 875 Dreisbach Church Rd., Lewisburg, where an Odd Fellows memorial service will be conducted at 7:45.  Additional visitation will be 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Saturday, April 29th, at the church where the funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m., with Rev. Nathan Druckenmiller, officiating.

Burial will be in the Lewisburg Cemetery.
