Geraldine Mattern

Geraldine E. Mattern, 103, entered into rest at 11:55 a.m., Saturday, March 18, 2017, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
She was born September 10, 1913, in Penns Creek, a daughter of the late Jay A. and Myrtle “Mert” Madora (Middleswarth) Napp. She married Charles E. Mattern, Sr., who preceded her in death in 1992.
Geraldine was owner and manager of the Midway Restaurant, near Penns Creek, where her individual pies where her specialty.
She baked bread for Walnut Acres, Penns Creek, and loved painting.
Geraldine was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mifflinburg.
Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Billy and Lindy Mattern, and Charles E. Mattern, Jr., all of Mifflinburg; one niece, Sybil Spotts of Mifflinburg; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Arthur J. Napp; and one sister, Mildred Napp, in infancy.
Funeral services will be conducted privately at the convenience of the family.
