Garth Miller

August 28, 1937 — September 12, 2017

Garth Richard Miller, 80, of 104 Sauers Dr., New Berlin, for the past 28 years, entered into rest at 9:25 a.m., Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at his home.

He was born August 28, 1937, in New Berlin, a son of the late Earl L., Sr., and Dorothy (Wetzel) Miller.  On May 22, 1960, in the Kratzerville Lutheran Church, he married the former Carol J. Kline, who survives.

Garth was a 1955 graduate of Mifflinburg High School.

He honorably served in the Air Force.

Garth was employed as an Inspector at Q-E Manufacturing, New Berlin, for 28 years, until he retired in 1999.  After retirement, he worked as a security guard at Port Royal Speedway and Selinsgrove Area School District.

He was a member of the Emmanuel United Church of Christ, New Berlin.

Garth was a member of the Free & Accepted Masons Lodge #370, for 25 years, a member of the New Berlin American Legion Post 957, and the former president of the New Berlin Fire Company.

He enjoyed volunteering in his community, watching Penn State football, and NASCAR.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 57 years, are two daughters and sons-in-law, Lori L. and Randy Smith of New Berlin, and Lisa A. and Dennis Bell of Orangeville; one brother, Clarion Miller of New Berlin; 5 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl L., Jr. and Mardean; one grandson, Zachary Solomon; and one great grandson.

Funeral services will be conducted privately at the convenience of the family.

Burial will be in the New Berlin Cemetery, with Military Honors by area veterans.
