Freda Musser

May 28, 1921 — February 26, 2017

Freda E. Musser, 95, of Elmcroft Assisted Living, Lewisburg, for 17 years, formerly of 109 Walnut St., Mifflinburg for 50 years, passed away at the Adams Rehabilitative Center, Riverwoods, after a five week visit on Sunday, February 26, 2017.

She was born May 28, 1921, in West Milton, a daughter of the late George W. and E. Florence (Walter) Musser.

Freda graduated from Milton High School in 1939.

She was employed at Huntingdon Throwing Mills, Mifflinburg, for over 40 years, and earlier in life worked at Pennsylvania House, Lewisburg, and on her parent’s farm.

Freda was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mifflinburg, since 1950, where she taught Sunday school for many years and was a member of the David Dagle Circle.

She enjoyed knitting, sewing, reading extensively, eating out and traveling.  Freda visited most of the U.S. states, Australia, the Mediterranean, Israel, Scandinavia and Canada, always enjoying new food and experiences.  She took a yearly Harley ride up to her 87th year.  Freda’s greatest treasure in life was her family and spending time with them.

Surviving are one daughter, Janet (Musser) Russell and her husband, Walter, of Panama City, Florida; two granddaughters, Glenda L. (Shively) Sheaffer and her husband, John of Mifflinburg, and Lisa A. (Shively) Vaught and her husband, Jim of Crossville, Tennessee; one great granddaughter, Bonnie L. (Zimmerman) Roush of Mifflinburg; two great-great grandchildren, Breanna L. and Kolby P. Roush, of Mifflinburg; and two sisters, Florine (Mrs. Robert) Smith of Mifflinburg, and Beatrice Musser of Harrisburg.

She emotionally adopted and was adopted by John Sheaffer's children and grandchildren, Lori (Joe) Zimmerman and Ami & Zachary of Etters, Cindy (Mark) Bowman, Taylor & Trevor of Mifflinburg, Christine (Blair) Sheaffer-Wertz of Millmont, and John (Jennifer) Sheaffer, Dylan of Lewisburg.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by 3 brothers & 1 sister, Nevin N. Musser, George Musser, Jr., Marlin W. Musser, and Gladys (Mrs. Earl) Fisher.

Family and friends are welcome from 10 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11, with Rev. Jasmine Loney, officiating.

Burial will be in the Lewisburg Cemetery next to her parents.

Flowers will be provided by the family.  Memorial gifts may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
