Desiree A. Starks

Desiree Anne Starks, 39 of Mifflinburg, entered into rest at 12:12 p.m., Monday, September 29, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones, at home.

She was born July 22, 1986, in Lewisburg, a daughter of Scott and Daria Shambach, Jerry and Shirley Haines, and Betty Keister. On September 13, 2008, in Ocean City, Maryland, she married Matthew W. Starks, who survives.

Desiree was a 2005 graduate of Mifflinburg High School.

She was employed as an Executive Administrative Assistant at Moran Logistics, Watsontown.

Desiree enjoyed spending time with her little bestie, Macy, and her husband Matt, loved riding motorcycles, was an avid animal lover and volunteered at the Scratching Post in Lewisburg. Desiree also volunteered with Mifflinburg Youth Cheerleading.

Surviving in addition to her husband, and parents, are two daughters, Macy Starks of Mifflinburg, and Mia Starks of West Milton; one son, Hunter Starks of Lewisburg; five brothers, Justin, Michael, Eric, Zachary, and Jacob Shambach; foster siblings, Michael Haines, Tammy Moore, and Jarrod Haines; grandmother, Doris Holmes; and aunt, Annette Erdley.

She was preceded in death by cousin, Tiffany Erdley; and grandfather, Gerald Shambach.

Family and friends are welcome to a time of visitation from 4 to 6 p.m., Monday, October 6, at the Buffalo Community Church, 4445 Hoffa Mill Road, Lewisburg, where the celebration of life will be conducted at 6 p.m., with Pastor Eddy Hostettler, officiating.

To honor Desiree’s memory, the family kindly asks guests to wear pink to the time of celebration. This was a color that had special meaning to Desiree and it would be beautiful to see everyone united in this way.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Scratching Post, 230 Market St., Lewisburg, PA 17837.
