Darren Smith

NEW BERLIN – Darren Allan Smith, 47, of 638 Market St., entered into rest at 4:07 a.m., Monday, September 5, 2016, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

He was born October 13, 1968, in Lewisburg, a son of James A. and Dianne W. (Conklin) Smith, of New Berlin.  On December 31, 2011, in New Berlin, he married the former Tonya Lea Solomon, who survives.

Darren was a 1986 graduate of Mifflinburg Area High School, and then graduated from Williamsport Area Community College with a degree in Business Management.

He was employed at Q-E Manufacturing, New Berlin, since 2005.  Earlier in life, Darren worked at Kan-trac-ter, Mifflinburg, GEM Properties, Middleburg, and Blough-Wagner, Middleburg.

Darren was active in the New Berlin Little League, volunteering his time to coaching, umpiring, and preparing the field for play.

He played baseball for the Mifflinburg Phillies in the 30 and over league, and played and coached the Mifflinburg town team in the West Branch League.

Surviving in addition to his wife and parents are one son, Logan A.J. Smith of New Berlin; one sister and brother-in-law, Kelli A. and Mike Wetzel of Winfield; one niece, Ashlee L. and her husband Kirk P. Pruitt of Nashville; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Tony and Sue Solomon of Winfield; and sister-in-law, Heather A. Solomon and daughter McKenzie Snyder.

Funeral services will be conducted privately at the convenience of the family.

A public celebration of Darren’s life will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the New Berlin Recreation Association, P.O. Box 173, New Berlin, PA  17855, in memory of Darren Smith.

Funeral arrangements are by Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg.
