Daniel C. Sanders, 71, of 1014 W. Market St., Mifflinburg, since 1971, entered into rest at 3:44 a.m., Wednesday, February 17, 2021, at UPMC, Williamsport.
He was born December 5, 1949, in Danville, a son of the late George and Georginna (Raker) Sanders. On December 8, 1968, in Augustaville, he married the former Jeanette P. Swartzlander, who survives.
Dan was a 1967 graduate of Line Mountain High School and Northumberland County Technical School. He graduated from PA Army National Guard Non-Commission Officers School at Indiantown Gap. Dan also completed Advanced Instructor Class with University of Wisconsin at EAU Claire, Wisconsin.
He honorably served in the Army National Guard as Staff Sergeant and Squad leader for Troop F, 104th Armor Calvary, Sunbury.
Dan was employed at Pennsylvania Power & Light where he started in 1968 as a Truck Driver and after 40 years retired as a Safety Trainer and Industrial Hygiene Specialist.
Dan was a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers, Pennsylvania Waterway Anglers Club, was awarded for the Outstanding Angler Award by Union County Conservation District in 2011, and was the Mifflinburg Borough Volunteer Emergency Management Coordinator in 2004.
He was a Certified Utility Safety Administrator with the National Safety Council and Certified Rigging Gear Inspector with Wire, Rope, and Rigging.
He enjoyed fishing, traveling to Canada to fish, collecting antique fishing lures, and spending time with his family and friends.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 52 years, are two sons Michael Sanders and his companion Jessica Mann of Mifflinburg, and Troy Sanders of Baltimore; one daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Anthony Dietrich of Middleburg; two grandchildren, Amber and her husband Cole Stahl of Laurelton, and Brodie Sanders of Mifflinburg; two great grandchildren, Kamryn Rotzler and Rowan Stahl; one brother and sister-in-law, David and Julia Sanders of Sunbury; and two sisters, Diane Inch of Harrisburg, and Darlene App of Sunbury.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Debbie Sanders and Donna Herman.
Family and friends are welcome from 9 to 12 p.m., Saturday, March 13, 2021, at Silver Moon Banquet Hall, 137 Silvermoon Lane, Lewisburg, where a Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m., with Pastor Keith Bingaman, officiating.
Our dad was a great man and generous to all he ever met. He will be missed by many.
