Cora Boop

April 29, 1929 — December 12, 2017

MILLMONT – Cora E. Boop, 88, of 227 Harveys Dr., since 1975, entered into rest at 8:55 a.m., Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at her home.

She was born April 29, 1929, in Weikert, a daughter of the late Jonas Barnett and Virginia (Libby) Barnett-Bettilyon. She was married to Earl Lamey, who preceded her in death on April 29, 1952.  On October 23, 1970, in North Carolina, she married Harvey G. Boop, who preceded her in death April 29, 2016.

Cora was a 1947 graduate of Laurelton High School.

She was a lifelong member of the Hironimus Union Church, Weikert, where she served as treasurer.

Cora worked at Huntington Throwing Mills, Mifflinburg, Yorktown Cabinets, Mifflinburg, and Union County Sportsmen’s Club, Weikert, where she met her husband, Harvey.

She was a life member of the West End Fire Company, Glen Iron, member of the Union County Sportsmen’s Club, Weikert, New Berlin American Legion Post 957, and Mifflinburg V.F.W. Post 1964.

Cora enjoyed working in her garden, mowing the lawn, quilting, sewing, and going to sales with her husband Harvey.

Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Daniel T. and Maureen Lamey of Millmont; one step-daughter and step son-in-law, Rachel and  Elwood Kline of Middleburg; four grandchildren, Judy Doldorf of Manassas, Virginia, Sandra Lamey of Millmont, Josh Lamey of South Carolina, and Jonathan Lamey of South Carolina; one sister, Geraldine R. Willen of West Virginia; one brother, August K. Barnett of Harrisonburg, Virginia; brothers and sisters-in-law, Guy Hackenburg, Peg Frecka, Linda Valentine, and Gary Boop; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one son, Earl Jacob Lamey; one step-son, Glenn L. Boop; three sisters, Barbara R. Cronin, Jane Strickler, and Ida Ernest; and two brothers, Lester Bettilyon and Frank Barnett.

Family and friends are welcome to a time of visitation from noon to 1 p.m., Sunday, January 7, 2018, at the Hironimus Union Church, Weikert, where a memorial service will be conducted at 1, with Pastor Richard DeVett, officiating.

Funeral arrangements are by Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg.
