Mifflinburg

Clayton Bradley Gessner, 35, of 50 Maple St. Mifflinburg, passed away with his family by his side on Wednesday, October 17, 2018, after an arduous and courageous battle with lung disease and lung cancer.   He was born August 12, 1983, in Lewisburg to the late Terry Gessner and Traci Musser of Mifflinburg.

He was a 2002 graduate of Mifflinburg Area High School and 2006 graduate of Pennsylvania College of Technology.  Clay worked as a Restaurant Manager for 10 years in Virginia Beach and Mifflinburg.  He married his love, Nicole Sawyer, on May 29, 2010, and welcomed his pride and joy into the world, their daughter, Aria on November 14, 2013.

Clay was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mifflinburg.

He was first and foremost a loving husband and father, and friend to many.  Clay enjoyed playing golf, loved music and playing guitar, and watching sports with a particular love/hate relationship with the Philadelphia Phillies.  He had a larger than life personality and sense of humor like no other and could light up a room with his smile alone.  Clay was the best at making anyone and everyone laugh.

He is survived by his wife, Nicole, and daughter, Aria; Mother, Traci Musser and her husband, William; one sister, Madeline Casilla and her husband, Ruben; three nieces and nephews, Liam, Lillian, and Lydia.  He is also survived by his Grandmothers, Patricia Gessner, and Pearl Culp; Mother-in-law and Father-in-law Kimberley & Keith Sawyer, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, sisters and brother-in-laws and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his Father, Terry; Grandfathers, Luther Gessner and Carl Culp; and his beloved dog, Nala.

A Celebration of Clay’s Life will be held at the Mifflinburg Area High School Auditorium, 75 Market St., on Sunday, October 21st.  Doors will open at 1 pm and the Celebration will begin at 2 pm.
