Charles A. Spangler, 76, Millmont

Charles Albert Spangler, 76, of 345 Laurel Rd., since 2007, formerly of Spring Mills, entered into rest at 4:02 p.m., Tuesday, December 21, 2010, at Muncy Valley Hospital.

He was born July 16, 1934, in Brown Township, Mifflin County, a son of the late George A. and Sara A. (Monsell) Spangler. On June 9, 1956, in Winchester, Virginia, he married the former Leona M. Auman, who survives.

Charles was employed by several construction companies through the years, and retired from Halls Trucking, Williamsport, as a truck driver in 1985.

He was of the Methodist faith.

Charles was a member of the Union County Sportsmen's Club, Weikert, Mifflinburg Moose Lodge #1396, Millheim Fire Company, Millheim American Legion Post 444, and the Teamsters Local #764.

He was a founding member of the R & R Gun Club, Poe Valley.

Charles enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially in the mountains at his camp, "Suits Us", Centre County, with his family and friends. He loved hunting with his grandsons and son-in-law. He also enjoyed gardening, NASCAR racing, especially Chevrolet drivers, football, and WWF wrestling.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 54 years, are one daughter and son-in-law, Carole L. and Corey Oldt of Millmont; three grandchildren, Daniel Oberlin and his fiance' Kim Mylet of Millmont, Crystal and her husband Kirk Wirth of Pine Grove, and Bradley Oldt and his companion Bethany Smith of Millmont; four sisters and one brother-in-law, Margaret Randolph of Belleville, Helen McMinn and her companion Eugene Earnest of Yeagertown, Joyce and John Poleck of Petersburg, and Anna Spangler of Huntingdon; five sisters-in-law, Alma Confer of Millheim, Alberta Miller of Millmont, Darla Miller of Aaronsburg, Joyce Auman of Millheim, and Alda Auman of Aaronsburg; three brothers-in-law, Francis Confer of Coburn, Gerald Auman of Spring Mills, and Gene Auman and his wife Bonnie of Mill Hall; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Francis Little, and Connie Spangler.

There will be no public viewing. A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Monday, December 27, 2010, at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg, with Rev. Henry Dorman, officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made in Charles's memory to the Mifflinburg Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1396, 437 Chestnut St., Mifflinburg, PA 17844, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
