Charles Blyler

November 19, 1932 — March 7, 2016

LEWISBURG – Charles Alfred Blyler, 83, of 207 Walnut St., since 2011, entered into rest at 10:10 p.m., Monday, March 7, 2016, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.

He was born November 19, 1932, in Danville, a son of the late Arthur and Kathryn (Hopp) Blyler.  On June 26, 1956, in Mifflinburg, he married the former Violet V. Weller, who preceded him in death March 4, 2012.

Charles was a 1951 graduate of Milton High School.

He served in the Army during the Korean War from December 9, 1953 until his honorable discharge on November 14, 1955.

Charles was a member of the West Milton United Methodist Church.

He was employed at Pennsylvania House, Lewisburg, for 30 years, until he retired in 1994.  Earlier in life, Charles worked for Leon Epler’s Farms, Lewisburg.

Charles enjoyed going to see Pennsylvania museums and parks, making and fixing items, collecting trains, and being out in God’s creation.

Surviving are five children and their spouses, Virginia Jesse of Milton, Viola Wilver of Watsontown, John and Patty Blyler of Middleburg, Wanda and Daniel Kemrer of Milton, and Rose and Vinson Shemory of Mifflinburg; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Fred and Pat Blyler of Gettysburg, and Arlan and June Blyler of Frederick, Maryland; one sister, Marion Klinger of Sunbury; 13 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Francis and Lee Blyler.

Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 3 p.m., Thursday, at the West Milton United Methodist Church, 310 High St., where the funeral will be conducted at 3, with Rev. Robert O. Rice, Jr., and Rev. John Lee, officiating.

Burial will be in the Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery, with military honors by area veterans.
