Carol Dilatush

November 5, 1942 — March 10, 2016

MIFFLINBURG - Carol Ann Dilatush, 73, died peacefully on March 10, 2016 at home after a long illness. Carol was born November 5, 1942, in Allentown, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Frank P. and Evelyn M. (Bercik) Magyar.  Carol graduated from Mother Cabrini High School in New York, NY and received a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from the College of Mount St. Vincent in 1964. She enjoyed working as a chemist, and held several positions over her career.

Carol was a voracious reader – especially of mysteries, medieval history, science fiction and the Sunday New York Times. She especially enjoyed the crossword puzzle. She loved cooking and baking and reading/experimenting with new recipes. She was a talented crocheter, and enjoyed making afghans and baby blankets. Carol donated her time to crochet for many charitable organizations.  She also enjoyed gardening, especially annuals and roses, including her favorite variety ‘Mister Lincoln’.

As her children grew, she re-entered the workforce, taking a position with Sandoz Pharmaceuticals. It was there where she met the love of her life, Andrew E. Dilatush, whom she married on March 6, 1993. They recently celebrated their 23rd wedding anniversary.

Carol is survived by her husband, Andrew; daughters, Evelyn Skoumbourdis of Philadelphia, PA and Amanda Hillegas (Kristofer) of Mount Laurel, NJ; stepdaughter Kimberly Klein (Alan) of Lake Ariel, PA; stepson Jason Dilatush of Lake Ariel, PA;   two grandchildren, Avery Hillegas and Andrew Hillegas and a nephew, Joseph A. H. Magyar. She was predeceased by her brother, Frank J. Magyar.

Carol’s life will be celebrated at a memorial service to be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent in her name to The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, Williamsport Branch, 3301 Wahoo Drive, Williamsport, PA 17701; or The North Shore Animal League, 25 Davis Avenue, Port Washington, NY 11050.

Funeral arrangements are by Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg.
