Lewisburg

Bertha “Bert” M. Keefer, 96, of 2421 JPM Road, Lewisburg, went to be with her Lord at 3:36 a.m., Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Gateway House at Divine Providence Hospital, Williamsport.

She was born July 4, 1929, in Northumberland, a daughter of the late Russell and Pearl (Wallize) Coup. On April 16,1949, in New Columbia, she married Delroy Keefer, who proceeded her in death February 20, 2013.

Bert was a 1947 graduate of Milton High School.

She was a member of New Hope Lutheran Brethren Church, Lewisburg.

Bert and her husband owned and operated their family farm for most of their lives, and she bailed hay until she was 92 years old. She also worked at the Bolen Department Store, Milton, for 25 years, Fincks Grocery store, West Milton, and she retired from Lewisburg Area School District in 1998, after being the head cook and cashier for 32 years.

She enjoyed snowmobiling, motorcycles, cooking, and spending time with her family.

Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Carole Keefer of Lewisburg; one daughter Barbara Schreck of Lewisburg; four grandchildren and their spouses, Beth and Ben Eshelman, Matthew and Ang Keefer, Amber and Mike VanSickle, and Angie Schreck; nine great grandchildren, Zoey, Cole, Makenzie, Jace, Weston, Aubree, Wyatt, Zuri, and Kai; and one sister, Polly Moser of Florida.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Sidney, Jim, and Bob Coup; two sisters, Becky Stump, and Myrtle Hauck; one son-in-law, Shawn Schreck.

Family and friends are welcome to a time of visitation from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, October 18, at the Lewisburg Alliance Church, 137 Supplee Mill Road, Lewisburg, where the celebration of life will be conducted at 11, with Pastor Dave McCarty, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to New Hope Lutheran Brethren Church, 205 S. 14th St., Lewisburg, PA 17837.

The Keefer family thanks Wellspan Hospital, UPMC Hospital and Hospice, for their kindness.
